REASONS TO WORKOUT FROM HOME DURING THE SUMMER

Beat the Summer Heat

There are many reasons to work out from home during the summer. To start, You can beat the heat if you work out from the comfort of an air-conditioned home. Sweating is always a sign of a good workout, but if the temperature is too high, it can drastically reduce the effectiveness of your workout. To avoid working out in the heat, you can use an at-home treadmill to perform all of your aerobic exercises.

Another reason to work out from home during the summer is so you can avoid the heat during traffic. Even if you have air conditioning in your car, there’s nothing worse than having to drive to the gym in a heat wave. The second you get out of your car, your clothes get sticky from the sweat and you immediately want to go home and cool off. When you have a treadmill in your home, you can simply finish up work, workout in the cool comfort of your home, and grab a nice shower right after you finish.

Enjoy the Summer

Having a standing desk, desk treadmill, or bike desk will help you reach your fitness goals without worrying about missing any of the summer events you want to attend. Of course, you will likely want to workout outside during the summer, but sometimes you will just want to enjoy the nice weather and bask in the sunshine after work. That’s why working out while you work can be such a useful advantage. Never refuse going to the pool right after work again. You will be able to do whatever you want in the summer because you will have already completed your workout at home.

Avoid the Gym Rush

Working out at home helps you avoid the gym entirely and all of the drawbacks that come with it. Stop throwing money down the drain when you can hit your fitness goals at home. Don’t wait in traffic in the blazing sun. Simply workout at home.

EXERCISE BASICS DURING THE SUMMER

Now that you understand the benefits of working out at home during the summer, let’s cover some of the bodyweight exercises you can perform to keep fit. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends adults do at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise each week. Using these exercises, you can cover much of your recommended exercise time.

The point of these exercises is to move rather than worry about how many sets you have to do. You can make it short, but make it consistent. Many exercise experts recommend balancing your routine above everything else. You want to work out your entire body, not just specific body muscle groups. Mix up resistance training with arms, legs, chest, shoulders, and your core. You should also concern yourself with working with both resistance and aerobic exercises to ensure you keep your metabolism high.

Resistance training ensures your muscles are strong by working them against outside forces. To plan your at-home workout program, let’s take a look at some of the resistance and cardio exercises you can perform easily indoors.

WHAT EXERCISES CAN YOU DO AT HOME?

Squats

Squats target your glutes, legs, and core but they are also one of the most effective full-body exercises you can perform. To complete a squat, place your feet flat on the ground with your weight in the middle of your feet. Place your feet shoulder-width apart and make sure your back and neck are naturally aligned. Keeping your weight evenly distributed, lower your buttocks toward the ground and keep your knees behind your toes. Hold, then return to your standing position. Repeat this movement 10-15 times for multiple sets.

Lunges

Lunges are another full-body exercise that primarily focuses on your glutes, legs, and core. Standing straight with your shoulders back and relaxed, keep your chin up and stare at a point in front of you to avoid looking down.  Step forward with one foot two-to-three feet and lower your hips until your front leg is directly above your ankle. Your knees should be at 90-degrees and your back knee should not touch the floor. Keeping your weight on your heels, push back to your starting position. Repeat this motion with the other leg and perform sets of 10-15 repetitions.

Planks

Planks are another full-body exercise that focuses primarily on your core. Holding this position strengthens and stabilizes your muscles. To perform this movement, place your forearms flat on the ground and make sure your elbows are directly underneath your shoulders. Keep your feet together and make sure you maintain balance on your toes. Tighten your abdominal muscles but make sure you maintain a steady breathing rhythm. Hold the plank for at least 20 seconds depending on your fitness level and repeat multiple sets.

Push-Ups

Push-ups are perhaps the most effective upper-body bodyweight exercise. For the proper form of a push-up, start with your feet together and keep your hands shoulder-width apart. Straighten your body and tighten your core muscles as you lower your upper body to your hands. Then push your body back up to the original position. If regular push-ups are too challenging, lower your body to your knees. Repeat push-ups 10-15 times for multiple sets.

CONCLUSION- WHY YOU SHOULD WORK OUT AT HOME THIS SUMMER
